LEARNING DISABILITIES
A word processor can be a convenience to anyone, but for
students who have difficulty with handwriting (dysgraphia)
or focus (attention deficit disorder), it is a necessity.
By the time they reach college, most of these students
have learned to rely on a computer for their writing
assignments.
Homework that contains math is a special challenge,
because word processors are not designed for that purpose.
Writing mathematical expressions in Word or LaTex is
difficult and time-consuming, once again putting the
student in the position of being distracted by the
mechanics of producing the document, and unable to focus
on the homework problem. Many students continue to
struggle with pencil and paper, or give up on science and
engineering altogether.
Equator is not suitable for every math-intensive course,
or for every learning disability, but it can be a
life-saver in many cases.
The best way to find out Equator is right for
you
is to download it and give it a try.
